The design process is one of the most important things to consider when planning out your landscaping procedures.
Suggestions for Design Process:
- Set yourself a budget!! It can be a yearly budget if necessary, so that you do not overspend the first year, and so that you may add to your yard design a little more every year.
- Make a drawing of your design ideas so that you can place trees, shrubs and flowerbeds in places that are appropriate.
If you are putting in a water features such as a water fountain or pond, consider whether or not you would like to place it in a sunny or partly shaded area. With this in mind, you can then select your plants accordingly, full sun or part shade.
- To get a basic idea of how your flowerbeds can be shaped, place your garden hose on the ground and move the hose around until you can come up with a shape that is suitable for what you want to accomplish in your own yard, personalized to suit you.
- You may choose rocks and stones as your border or you might chose landscaping planks. Brick is also a nice accent, depending on what your taste is rounded or square.
- Layering is an element that gives depth. You can do layering with rocks or brick.
- Next you will bring soil into your beds. You may choose to use fertilizer, which is always a good idea to help your new plants off to a great and healthy start.
- Make a list of what you need to purchase at the Garden Centre so that you will have everything that you need to start your new design project.
Your visit to the Garden Centre can be a wonderful experience for you if you have everything drawn out before you go.
