Red Deer and Surrounding Areas

Wolf’s Botanical is a 15-acre tree farm dedicated to growing high-quality, zone 2 hardy deciduous and coniferous trees, with a focus on producing strong caliper stock suited to the demanding climate of Central Alberta. Rooted in Lacombe and serving the surrounding region, our current market includes residential and commercial customers in Lacombe and Ponoka, as well as landscape and development projects across Central Alberta. Whether the need is for a single statement tree in a backyard or a consistent supply of hardy trees for a larger commercial installation, Wolf’s Botanical is structured to deliver reliable plant material that performs in real-world prairie conditions.

Our approach begins with careful sourcing. We purchase young seedlings or liner stock—healthy, vigorous starts that can adapt well once established—and plant them in our fields where they are given the space and attention required to become long-lived, structurally sound trees. From the start, our priority is building resilience: trees that are acclimated to local weather extremes, able to withstand harsh winters, and capable of thriving through hot, dry spells and sudden seasonal transitions.

Growing premium caliper trees takes patience and precision, and our day-to-day management reflects that. Throughout the growing season, trees are supported with regular watering practices tailored to field conditions and seasonal needs. We fertilize thoughtfully, ensuring trees receive balanced nutrition that encourages steady, healthy growth rather than quick, weak spurts. Just as importantly, we apply proper pruning techniques to guide structure and form—developing strong leaders, well-spaced branches, and durable architecture that improves both appearance and long-term performance once transplanted.

Because our farm is located in Central Alberta, everything we do is shaped by the realities of this region: wind exposure, temperature swings, and the need for plants that can establish quickly and reliably. Our cultivation methods are designed to produce trees that are not only visually appealing, but also dependable—trees that maintain vigour in challenging conditions and provide lasting value for property owners, municipalities, and contractors alike.

Wolf’s Botanical exists to bridge a practical gap in the local tree supply: offering hardy, well-managed trees grown with local conditions in mind. By focusing on zone 2 resilience, caliper quality, and consistent field care, we help customers build landscapes that are sustainable, functional, and beautiful. As demand continues to grow across Central Alberta for reliable plant material that can stand up to our climate, Wolf’s Botanical is proud to provide trees that are truly built for the region—grown with intention, managed with care, and ready to thrive where they’re planted.

Friendly Staff with a Ton of Selection

“A wide variety of plants. Helpful, knowledgeable & friendly staff. Shrub & tree selection was a little sparse. But understand they were expecting a shipment later in the week, so maybe my timing was off. All in all a really lovely greenhouse”
